# Set your availability for auto-dispatch

> Use the Available for dispatch toggle in Inbox to control whether auto-dispatch can assign new threads to you, and see your presence at a glance.

<Note>
  Auto-dispatch is currently in **Partner Beta**. The **Available for dispatch** toggle only appears if your workspace has **push auto-dispatch** enabled. Workspaces using pull-only auto-dispatch (the "Get next thread" button) won't see the toggle. Contact your Thread representative if you'd like to join the beta.
</Note>

When auto-dispatch is enabled for your workspace, Thread uses each member's availability to decide who can receive push-assigned threads. You set your own availability directly from the Inbox account menu — no admin action required.

## How it works

* **Available** — Auto-dispatch can push new threads to you. A **green dot** appears on your avatar in the left rail and in the account menu.
* **Offline** — Auto-dispatch skips you when assigning threads. A **grey dot** appears on your avatar.

Your availability persists across sessions and is read from the server each time you load Inbox, so switching devices keeps your status in sync.

## Toggle your availability

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the account menu">
    In Inbox, select your avatar in the bottom-left of the rail to open the account menu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Find the Available for dispatch switch">
    At the top of the menu, find the **Available for dispatch** switch next to your name and avatar.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Toggle your availability">
    Toggle it **on** to start receiving auto-dispatched threads, or **off** to stop.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The presence dot on your avatar updates immediately. If the change can't be saved, the toggle reverts and you'll see an error toast — try again in a moment.

## When to use it

* Turn it **on** when you're at your desk and ready to take on new work through auto-dispatch.
* Turn it **off** when you step away, go into a focus block, start a meeting, or head out for the day.

<Tip>
  Availability only affects **push** auto-dispatch (threads pushed to you automatically). You can still pull the next thread manually from the rail regardless of your availability.
